Class Project Selection Process

The LSP Planning Committee forms a sub-committee each year (the Class Project Committee) dedicated to improving the selection process for the class project in the LSP program. The Class Project Committee develops the final application for organizations to complete, and provides a mentor to assist the organization in completing the application. Initial project screening is based upon the applications submitted, and the Class Project Committee selects the top three projects that would work best as a team building activity for the incoming LSP class.

At the very first event of the LSP Program – Orientation Dinner (December) – the three class project finalists make presentations to the new LSP class, allowing class members to ask questions of the presenters. Coordinated group tours at the finalists' location occur in the following weeks, so that class members can visit the class project site. At the next event of the LSP Program – Opening Retreat (January) – the LSP class discusses which of the three class projects they feel the group could best accomplish, with a final vote by class members determining the final Class Project.
