Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio @ The Palladium
Tell a Friend About This EventTell a Friend

This is the first opera we see Mozart working on near the beginning of the Oscar-winning movie AMADEUS. It's the crazy story of two men rescuing their girlfriends who have been kidnapped and sequestered at a Turkish harem, or seraglio. Wolfgang blends high comedy with touching tragedy, and he flavors the music with extra percussion - evoking the military bands of Turkey.

The winter offering will be Mozart’s homage to the Turkish craze of the early 19th century, The Abduction from the Seraglio. This production marks the return of tenor Wesley Morgan, who was an Emerging Artist with the company in its first two productions. Morgan stars as Belmonte opposite Alexandra Batsios as Konstanze. Batsios was dazzling as the Queen of Shemakha in Sarasota Opera’s production of The Golden Cockerel last season. Marielle Murphy as the Blonde, has been hailed for her sparkling coloratura. The antics in the harem will be on February 5, 7, and 9, 2016. The Abduction from the Seraglio is co-sponsored by Belinda Dumont and Brad and Mary Ann Morse.
