Public Policy Chat with Council Member Kennedy

Posted By Jillian Lusk, Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Yesterday, September 11, the Public Policy Council got a chance to sit down and meet with City Council Member Jim Kennedy. Similar to all of our chats, we got an inside perspective on what Kennedy thinks of the budget and what he holds as highest priorities for the city moving forward.

On project that Kennedy has been fully behind is a new city park. The Rio Vista Elementary School, closed down by the school board is being turned into a park for residents and visitors to enjoy. Its spans 8.5 acres and should include basketball and tennis courts, walking trails, and possibly even a fitness center. It will be a great addition to district 2, the northeast corner of the city.

In addition to the plans for Rio Vista, we also covered the following topics:

We also want to send out a special thank you to LEMA Construction for hosting us in your beautiful boardroom.

We are always looking for Chamber members' businesses to highlight during these chats. If you are interested in hosting our next meeting please contact Jillian Lusk.
