Yesterday, September 11, the Public Policy Council got a
chance to sit down and meet with City Council Member Jim Kennedy. Similar to
all of our chats, we got an inside perspective on what Kennedy thinks of the
budget and what he holds as highest priorities for the city moving forward.
On project that Kennedy has been fully behind is a new city
park. The Rio Vista Elementary School, closed down by the school board is being
turned into a park for residents and visitors to enjoy. Its spans 8.5 acres and
should include basketball and tennis courts, walking trails, and possibly even
a fitness center. It will be a great addition to district 2, the northeast
corner of the city.
